Here, we’ll briefly go over this Apple Fitness+ feature and teach you how to create and use your first stack.
What Are Stacks in Apple Fitness+?
A stack consists of a series of multiple workouts, meditations, and mindful cooldowns that you can do back-to-back. The benefit of using Stacks is that you can transition seamlessly from one workout to the next without stopping and browsing the huge Apple Fitness+ catalog in the middle of your exercise.
Think of Stacks as playlists for your Fitness+ catalog. You can create and save them to your Apple Fitness+ library, just as you can create and save playlists in Apple Music.
How to Create a Stack in Apple Fitness+
Before you create a stack, you’ll need to browse the Apple Fitness+ catalog to find enough activities for your routine. So, select any of the 12 workout types that appear at the top of the Fitness+ page. Then, choose a range of activity types to ensure your exercise stack is well-balanced.
When you have enough content for your stack, follow these steps in the Fitness app on your iPhone:
- Select the Fitness+ tab at the bottom of your screen.
- Choose an activity, then tap the ellipsis (…) icon at the top-right corner of the screen.
- In the options that appear, tap Add to Stack.
You can also touch and hold an activity until a pop-up menu appears, then tap Add to Stack. The stack appears as a colored square at the top of your menu, with a number next to it denoting how many activities are in that stack.
Whatever you choose to include in your stack, always remember to include one of the fantastic Mindful Cooldowns in Apple Fitness+ at the end.
How to Arrange and Use Stacks in Apple Fitness+
When you’re done creating and adding activities to your stack, you can view it by tapping the colored square at the top-right corner of your screen and selecting from the options that appear. You can simply tap the Let’s Go button to start your stack.
If you’re not ready to exercise right now, tap the ellipsis (…) button at the top-right corner to reveal the Add Stack to Library button. This will save your exercise stack until it’s workout time.
It’s also easy to edit and change your stack. If you’d like to rearrange the order of exercises in your stack, use the three horizontal lines on the far right of each activity to drag it up or down and position it wherever you like.
If you want to delete an activity in your stack, swipe left on it and tap Delete. And lastly, to clear the whole stack and start again, just tap the ellipsis (…) icon in the top-right corner and select Clear Stack.
Personalize Your Workout Routine With Stacks in Apple Fitness+
Now that you can arrange your workouts into stacks in Apple Fitness+, you have more control over how you organize and use your precious exercise time than ever before.
You can browse the Apple Fitness+ catalog at your leisure and include as many activity types as you like. Then, when it’s time to close those Activity Rings, your Fitness+ app can act as a personal trainer, leading you seamlessly through all of the activities you chose in the order you decided.
